At High Desert Advisors we know the importance of excellence in investment advice backed by a sound portfolio in meeting your investment goals. We have a variety of investment services and strategies to help you meet your goals.
We begin all our client relationships with an initial client meeting process to determine a client's goals, needs and risk performance. This process continues with a spreadsheet analysis that, when completed, clearly indicates the required cash flow needed from the investment portfolio. Here is a sample cash flow analysis spreadsheet.
The results of this interactive process are inputted into a dynamic asset allocation system that profiles each investor's personal risk preference and designs a unique asset allocation for that investor portfolio. The asset allocation brings together a correlated mix of asset categories by optimizing risk versus return.
Recommended investments consist of equities, mutual funds, fixed income and preferred stocks. The asset allocation mix includes large and small cap, value and growth stocks, and international stocks.
A typical portfolio allocation might consist of approximately equal amounts of large cap growth and large cap value stocks, small amounts (3% - 6%) of small cap growth and value stocks, perhaps 15% of the total portfolio in international stocks, and 30% in fixed income.
A more conservative portfolio will have a lower volatility; the fixed income percentage included in such a portfolio might be as high as 50% - 80%, depending upon the investor's tolerance for risk. In designing investment portfolios, the term 'risk' is synonymous with volatility. That is, the more the portfolio value varies with market changes, the greater the volatility and the greater the risk.
At the close of the client interview and asset allocation processes, a formal client agreement is reviewed with the client to ensure all of the items discussed, information prepared and reviewed, is correct. Once the client agreement is signed by all parties, the actual work of creating and subsequent management of the investment portfolio begins. We utilize an economic and market management model to establish and support the right kind of portfolio management to suit the needs of the individual investor.
And as we believe that the educated consumer is our best client, we regularly disseminate financial advisory letters via email. For client reference, there is an archive of older letters available.
Each of the links above will take you directly to more detailed sources of information on our individual services.
